The Paraná states is characterized to have the economy based in agriculture, having 62% of area with pastures and farms. The land-use and management in agroecosystems influence the earthworm populations and consequently, their diversity. Aimed asses the earthworms biodiversity, analyzing the population density and biomass of this organisms in the rainy season (summer) and the dry season (winter), in 2004, at the sites with various crops and management systems of Jaguapitã, North Paraná, Brazil. The treatments were six pastures sites (degraded and in renovation processes). two sugar cane (Saccharum sp.) and two soybean (Glycine max) areas under conventional tillage. Samples were taken by TSBF (Tropical Soil and Biology Fertility) method, taking hand-sorting soil monoliths (25x25cm square), from surface to a depth of 10 cm. Earthworms were removed from soil and preserved in formalin solution (4%), being counted, weighed and the species identified. Pastures presented higher earthworms abundance (33-85 indiv. m-2 and1.49-7,59 g m-2, in summer; 0-282 indiv. m-2 and 0-24.38 g m-2, in winter) than agricultural areas (0-7 indiv. m-2 and 0-0.05 g m-2, in summer; 0-5 indiv. m-2 and 0-0.06 g m-2, in winter). Earthworms biodiversity, at the moment, is comprised by: Pntoscolex corethrurus and Glossoscolex sp., of the Glossoscolecidae family; Dichogaster affinis, D. bolaui and D. saliens, of the Acanthodrilidae; and Eukerria sp., E. eiseniana, E. saltensis and Ocnerodrilus occidentalis belonging the Ocnerodrilidae family. Fimoscolex n. sp., Ocnerodrilidae n. sp.1 and Belladrilus n. sp.1, at the time unknown, also were found.
